Choosing Your Candle
The purpose of this entire website is to introduce you to the power of the candle ceremony and illustrate the impact that an energetic clearing will have on expediting your intention's manifestation.
Therefore, the information below is just to briefly introduce you to the idea of candle selection for your ceremony. Please consult with local sources and/or books, videos and so on in the event that you wish to 'dress' your own candle to meet a specific intention.
There are so many terrific ways in which you might consider approaching your candle healing ceremony that it would be impossible to outline them all. My suggestion if you are new to this would be to go to a local spiritual bookstore or shop that either sells or prepares candles that matches your specific intention.
There are also many shops that carry various colors of the 7-day candles by themselves which provide you with the option of ‘dressing’ your candle at home in a way that bonds you in a more intimate way with it. It all depends on your comfort level for either designing your own custom candle or would rather pull one off the shelf that is ready to go.
For instance, some standard candle ‘intentions’ are for things like abundance, prosperity, luck, love, healing, protection, employment, lawsuits, uncrossing, spell breaking, banishing and so much more. Many times these candles have either been carved and beautifully decorated with colorful glitter that is significant for the candle magic ceremony and in the appropriate candle color that corresponds to the intention.
‘Dressing’ a candle consists of applying specific additions to your candle that will support your candle ceremony's intention. If a person is not purchasing a candle that is already 'dressed' there are excellent sources that will describe which oils, glitter colors, herbs, even carvings are often used in the dressing experience.
There are even reasons that some might choose to select a candle color that matches his or her astrological sign and which days of the week would be best to start the ceremony (reflected by the specific intention).
This comes down to how far a person wishes to go in the harmonization of the materials of your specific candle and the intention that has been set. For instance, the color green is associated with 'prosperity' so, if that's the intention, then starting with a green candle would be essential to exciting the correct vibrations.
That example of starting with the color green for the acquisition of money is what would be considered 'basic symbolism'; however, the Candle Healing ceremony is very individualistic so the individual objective is just as important as the color vibration of the candle.
It might be best to speak with someone at a local candle show who is knowledgeable about candles if you are interested in dressing your own candles. There is also a great deal of information online as well as books that can provide you with ideas.
My suggestion is to always dress or purchase a candle that has at least glitter on the top or sides of the candle and potentially herbs as well. This will help you to better understand the results of your candle healing ceremony in the way that the glitter and herbs, along with any remaining wax, has been deposited at the bottom of the glass.
When you start your candle healing ceremony, first decide what is going to be the halfway center line of the candle; mark that point with a magic marker on the rim of the glass. This halfway marking will determine the left and right of your glass.
When the candle ceremony is complete, the wax, glitter and herbs that are deposited on the left of the candle's glass bottom represent that which was in the past (prior to the candle healing ceremony) and that which is on the right is representative of the future. The interpretation of the remaining glitter, herbs and wax is highly dependent upon the intention that was set.
