Creating an Altar for Your Candle
Creating an altar, a designated area for your candle healing ceremony, is highly individualized. The following suggestions are very basic as only you know what is most appropriate for your personal space.
1) In the event that you are using a traditional 7-day candle, you will want to find a location in which you can light the candle and then leave it in place for the duration of the burn;
2) If possible, although it is not necessary, you might want to place the altar in a room that either has a window or is near a window. This is not essential at all, but, as the sun is electromagnetic, the candle will always be situated near to the Universal force of the ‘all that is’. Of course, you will be bringing your own source of electromagnetism to the ceremonial altar each time you are actively communicating with the candle, the elements and meditating on your intention;
3) Select an area of your living arrangements in which there is not too much overhead draft blowing onto the candle. The candle flame is highly indicative of what is occurring in the candle healing process through the observations of the flame’s height, movement, noises and smoke release, etc. You want to be sure that what is being observed is directly related to the spiritualized flame and not artificial atmospheric events (like overhead HVAC);
4) As my Candle Healing process is specific to working with the benevolent natural elements, it might be helpful to incorporate a representation of each element into your candle’s platform. This might be a bowl of water with a flower in it, perhaps some metals along with seashells or sand;
5) Adding a crystal or two near the candle is also a great way to amplify the electromagnetic communication between you, the Candle and then natural elements. You can also enhance the experience by selecting a crystal (or crystals) based on their specific metaphysical properties as it relates to your intention;
6) There might be times when it is necessary to add another small candle to the ceremony so make sure that your altar has space for that. Adding another flame is sometimes a great idea when it is being observed that your main candle’s flame is struggling with height or even appears to be engaged in a type of spiritual warfare! Yes, these flames are communicating with you and other ‘elements’ so this is a common occurrence during candle healing ceremonies;
7) There might be reasons when you want to emphasize one element over the others. For instance, if this is a prosperity intention then perhaps you will want to incorporate more earth symbols if it is about materials; at the same time, if it is developing a prosperity mindset, then maybe you want to emphasize the element symbols of fire. So much of this depends on you, your intention and what you intuitively feel is lacking in your ability to manifest your specific intention.
8) One of the Universal constructs is tonality in its various forms of frequencies and vibration; in fact, electromagnetism has properties that interact with both phonons and photons. Phonons carry sound and photons carry both light and sound. Therefore, the Universal building blocks will be reacting to the light of your candle’s flame, the light of your imagination and the sensitivity to the vibration and tone of your thought intentions. I have found that placing music near to the ceremonial altar is a form of respect for the healing process that expedites the intention.
Most of all, have fun with creating this space. It should be done with an attitude of appreciation, joy and reciprocity. In other words, as you celebrate your relationship with the natural elements and the benevolent and creative forces of electromagnetism, that appreciation will eventually descend upon your life.
You can not possibly choose to work with the benevolent, positive polarities of the Universe and, as time goes on, not be rewarded. Instant gratification and placing demands on the Universe, or judging the results based on "I did this so you had better do that" is not benevolent or positive.
As you create your sacred altar space, please be aware of the emotional differences between creating this dedicated altar space out of pure love, generosity and gratitude for the elements and doing so to 'get them to do something'. While this might seem on the surface to be a subtle, nuanced request, it will have a lot to do with the results that are experienced during this and future Candle Healing ceremonies.
